In this unbiased review of Oinou Strata, I will show you around this incredible hotel that screams understated luxury, sophistication, and relaxation. So if you love mountains, villages, and adults-only hotels this is THE article for you!

Adults Only Hotels In Cyprus – Oinou Strata – Location

Oinou Strata offers the option of a luxurious and relaxing stay in Vouni, one of the biggest wine-villages of the mountainous Limassol and maybe one of the best agrotourism destinations in Cyprus!

There are plenty of things to do and see in the beautiful village of Vouni, so make sure you check them out!

What is there to do at Oinou Strata – Adults Only?

At Oinou Strata – the jewel of the village – the co-existence of the old and the modern are the main elements that will catch your eye. Relaxation will be guaranteed, especially because this is an Adults Only Hotel!

You can take your time and relax at your leisure – by soaking in the jacuzzi, enjoying a coffee In your private veranda, reading a book in your living room or watching TV.

Distance from Paphos Airport: 54.3 Km (45 minutes by car)

Distance from Larnaca Airport (LCA) – 105 Km, 1hr and 20 minutes by car

How far is Oinou Strata – Adults Only from the centre of Vouni?

The village is small, and Oinou Strata is located right in the center of it! You are only 1-2 minutes walks from the villages square, 2 taverns, a cafe, and a public parking area.

Oinou Strata – Get to know the Hotel

At the adults-only Oinou Strata, luxury and comfort are combined with absolute harmony. It is no wonder that this is the winner of the Luxury Lifestyle Awards 2020.

In this luxurious hotel of only 3 suites, everything is perfect – from china on the table, to the beds, Jacuzzi, and wine bar! I practically cried when I had to leave!

There is a beautiful entrance to Oinou strata– which perfectly ties in with the village architecture and style! A cute little patio outside, and a gorgeous wine bar and cellar that is open daily until 7 pm.

Can I park a car at Oinou Strata – Adults Only?

Parking in the village of Vouni is not the easiest of tasks. The village you see, – as quaint as it is – has narrow streets!

Luckily, there is spacious public parking just minutes from the hotel! Make sure you check out the map attacked, so you do not miss it.

What type of room can I book at Oinou Strata – Adults Only?

There are three suites to choose from: The Shiraz Suite, The Champagne Suite, and the Merlot Suite. Yeap, this adults only hotel only offers 3 suites – so be sure to book FAST!

Adults Only Hotels Cyprus – The Suites of Oinou Strata

The rooms are impossibly perfect – like, I need to speak to this interior designer! Huge in size, luxe, classy and fabulous! I stayed in the Shiraz Suite which is situated at the bottom of the complex, right next to the wine cellar.

The beds in all three suites are amazing and so comfortable. The thick mattress, plush pillows, and soft linen provide such an excellent night’s sleep – and this is so important when you wanna spoil yourself! And I’m guessing this is one of the reasons you are looking into adults-only hotels in Cyprus – right?

In the room – which is as big as a 2 bedroom flat – there is also a dining area, with a proper dining table and 4-6 chairs, that is as grand and luxurious as an old Victorian mansion. The Jacuzzi with body treatment scrubs is probably my favorite feature of course – as it is big enough for two, even though I thoroughly enjoyed a glass of wine and a long soak by myself haha!

There is also a living room with a proper fireplace and Led Tv, a private veranda, and a huge bathroom with a jacuzzi and a separate shower.

Other suites at Oinou Strata

As mentioned above, there are two more suites available for rent – the Merlot Suite and the Champagne Suite.

The Merlot Suite also includes a jacuzzi and all the features of the Shiraz suite – just a different decor. Furthermore, the Champagne suite does not have a jacuzzi but holds all the same features.

What are the check-in and check-out times at Oinou Strata – Adults Only?

The check-in times in this hotel are not the best in my opinion, but not unheard of in other adults-only hotels in Cyprus! I personally feel I deserve a full 24 hrs in my room (12 pm to 12 pm the next day). Alas, the check-in at Oinou Strata is from 2:30 PM, and check-out is at 11:30 AM.

What kind of breakfast is served at Oinou Strata – Adults Only?

The breakfast at Oinou Strata is a serious and elaborate affair! It is, of course, breakfast in bed, and by that, I mean that there is no breakfast area or anything of the sort. Instead, every morning, a huge spread of continental breakfast goodies will be waiting for you in your fridge inside the room, or delivered to your door 🙂

And what a breakfast it is! You will find individually wrapped containers with fresh orange juice, milk, bread, butter and jam, cheese, and other cold cuts! Additionally, yogurt with muesli, a Nespresso machine, toaster, and kettle.

Everything you need for a glorious breakfast, right in the comfort of your room. Blissful.

Vouni Village

This village is possibly one of the most picturesque villages I have visited so far!

As you explore Vouni, you will find coffee shops full of locals, gorgeous cobbled alleys, and cellars with Cypriot wine!

Additionally, I found the church of TimIou Prodromou and its church museum rather fascinating.

I was super lucky to have spent an entire weekend with the council president of the village Mr. Mathaios, a wonderful man full of life, good energy, and plenty of knowledge and love for Vouni! He took me to all the best spots and I am forever thankful to him!

There are many places to stay in Vouni, like the luxurious and unique Oinou Strata Luxury Agrotourism Suites –  the winner of the Luxury Lifestyle Awards 2020.

Places to visit in Vouni Village

1. The Vouni coffee shop -I Plateia! This is where the village comes together for coffee during the day and zivania during the evening! I was lucky to catch a live music night on Saturday nights too and it was awesome!

2.Explore the village on foot and spot the beautiful architecture and characteristic blue doors!

3.Drink Wine at Kava Neocleous Oinotexniki! Located right next to the coffee shop in the middle of the square, you can drink and purchase a variety of wines – from Cypriot to French and German varieties

4.Have a cold beer and a ”kolokoti” (pumpkin pie) at ”Gonia ton Aggelon” coffee shop and bar. Here you can find espresso and cappuccino coffee, sandwiches, and various other snacks too.

5.Say a prayer and admire art pieces from generations past at Timiou Prodromou Church. This church is beautifully restored and serene! There is also a small museum here, that holds a huge selection of hagiographies – some over 1000 years old! I highly suggest a visit, I’m sure you will love it!

6.Observe the making of zivania and sioutzouko, and take a walk through the amphitheater! There is a playground with plenty of shade for little ones to play there too. Lastly, check out the ”Eliomilos” and the ”Xavouza” fountain – where locals used to wash their clothes and carry water to their homes!

7.Last but not least, you can take a look at The Museum of Folk Art! This 15th-century Gothic building is housing a collection of pottery, carvings, tools & folk paintings.

A great option for people wanting a house, or families is Villa Cabernet. This spacious villa includes 1 bedroom, a living room and a flat-screen TV, an equipped kitchen with a dining area, and 2 bathrooms with a shower and a washing machine.

The villa offers a fireplace, terrace, outdoor swimming pool, and garden!

Vouni Lodge

Vouni Lodge features rustic-style apartments with free Wi-Fi and patio or balcony with beautiful views. The apartments include a kitchen with a dining area, stove, toaster, and fridge. There is a seating area with a sofa and satellite TV too and some of the units have a traditional fireplace.

Guests can relax in the courtyard that has sun loungers. BBQ facilities are provided in the garden free of charge.

As mentioned above, ”Gonia ton Aggelon” is great for snacks and sandwiches! There is also another great tavern called ”I orea Ellas”, and lastly, Takis Tavern! Takis Tavern serves delicious breakfast, lunch, and dinner!

Koilani Village – Vlassides Winery

‘’The art of wine begins and ends in the vineyards’’  This, is just one of the dozens of things I learned today from incredible winemaker Sophocles Vlassides, and his dedicated team at Vlassides Winery – at Koilani Village, just a 10-minute drive from Vouni.

This third-generation winemaker believes in alternative and modern methods of winemaking, and this is evident – both in his premium wines, but also in the fact that he is a sought-after consultant in plenty of wineries around Cyprus.

Sophocles is a man with incredible knowledge, vision, and love towards his craft! Since 1998, Vlassides winery combines tradition with innovation and experience to produce 15 varieties of wine, in their 220 acres of vineyards.

The result is 150.000 bottles of incredible Cypriot, Greek, and French wine, and a number of experimental wines in the making – because the Vlassides family never rests!

Vlassides Winery offers wine tours and tastings daily, except Sundays, from 11:00 – 16:00.

At the Winery, you can find all of the Vlassides wines, as well as rare selections from old harvests and the special experimental wines of Sophocles Vlassides with the title “Dokimes”.

Lofou Village

At 780 meters Altitude and just 26 km from Limassol, you will find Lofou Village. A small stone-built village, built in a circular pattern on hills, with a beautiful village square, wine bars, shops, and many more.

 Lofou is perfect for weekend trips away from the heat and humidity, alongside your friends and loved ones.

Things to do in Lofou Village

1.Enjoy drinks and wine tasting at Agrovino Wine Shop and Bar.

2.Hike the beautiful nature trail! You will find the trail on the road heading to Silikou village. It is around 1,5 km long and it follows a descending path towards the Elitzi fountain, which provided the residents with water until 1842. There is plenty of different kinds of Cypriot flora and fauna, like oak trees, high bushes, and various herbs!

3.Check out the traditional water fountain of Elitji, dating back to 1842. Elitzi is located on the nature trail!

 4.Visit the 19th-century Panayia Chrysolofitissa church, and the nearby small chapel dedicated to Prophet Elias

5.Explore the architecture of the village

6.Try out local snacks at the various bakeries in the village square!

What to Eat

There are various taverns and restaurants in Lofou to choose from! I visited Kamares tavern for mezedes and liked the food quite a lot! Wherever you choose, make sure you book ahead – as places get packed!

Kouris Dam

 Kouris is the largest dam of a network of 107 dams in Cyprus. This huge reservoir is 115 meters high and can hold 115,000,000 cubic meters of water! The dam is also fed by the Kouris River and Diarizos River. But the dam holds other wonders too – such as an abandoned church buried deep into its waters!

Ayios Nicolaos Church was part of the old Alassa Village. Nowaways, the abandoned church is almost fully submerged in water, and only visible when the water levels of Kouris Dam drop. During the winter, the church is completely buried in water – an amazing phenomenon!
