It opens its doors early in the morning, allowing visitors to witness the ethereal beauty of the mosque in the soft morning light.

Grand Mosque Abu Dhabi Dress Code:

The grandeur of the mosque demands a certain level of modesty in attire. Both men and women are required to dress conservatively.

For men, this typically involves long trousers and covered shoulders.

Women are expected to wear loose-fitting, ankle-length dresses or skirts and a headscarf. Sleeves must be full length, and no hair must be showing. Trousers are not allowed.

My sleeves were loose at the bottom and sometimes they rode up, so i kept my arms crossed most of the time.

And trust me; they check!

My skirt had a semi-sheer part at the bottom so I wore it over leggings to ensure my skin wasn’t showing at all.

I loved how this outfit looked in all my photos!

How much is the abaya for Sheikh Zayed Mosque?

On the way to the mosque, I saw several shops selling robes for the mosque, so don’t panic if you haven’t packed anything appropriate.

Just wear leggings and a long-sleeved top, and buy a cover-up with a headscarf on your way! Women can purchase an Abaya (robe) for AED 50 from one of the service desks before entry.

The post 20 Delightfuly Amazing Things To Do In Dubai With Kids appeared first on Tia Does Travel.

So many people think Dubai is all about the shopping malls and no more – but I am here to crush that myth! In fact, there is SO much to do, it can be seriously overwhelming!

From hidden alleys to traditional souks, the magnificent desert, and plenty of activities that involve experiencing the traditional Emirati culture, the list is endless, and it will be hard to choose!

So read my Itinerary for Dubai that will help you plan the perfect 7 days in this unique Middle Eastern destination.

How many days in Dubai is enough?

Contrary to popular belief, no amount of days can be enough to experience all of Dubai at once. However, 7 days is pretty perfect for a single visit!

In these 7 days, you can enjoy the highlights – like theme parks, malls, sights, markets, and safaris and still have some downtime to relax!

What can you do in Dubai in 7 days?

Put your comfortable shoes on, because you will be exploring A LOT of Dubai with this itinerary for Dubai! Let’s break it down day by day!

Day 1: Exploring Downtown Dubai

Dubai Mall, Burj Khalifa and the wings of Mexico

Dubai Mall

The Dubai Mall is the world’s largest destination for shopping, entertainment, and leisure, located next to the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa.

The Dubai Mall features hundreds of shops, restaurants of every cuisine, and for every budget, cinemas, hotels and so much entertainment! For example, the world-class Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo featuring thousands of aquatic animals and a 270-degree walkthrough tunnel.

Then, a haunted house, a virtual reality room, a dinosaur exhibition, 22 screen cinema rooms and SO much more!

So I suggest you start there because you could literally spend entire days and not manage to see everything!

Foodies will be in heaven here – Japanese cheesecakes, incredible steak, bespoke burgers, sushi, ice cream, and more are right there. I literally couldn’t stop eating!

Even if you don’t do a whole lot of shopping, there is so much to see and do here. You will be overwhelmed for sure.

Dubai Fountains

At the mall, you absolutely must see the famous Dubai fountains! They are a choreographed fountain system located on the 12 hectares of manmade Burj Khalifa Lake, right outside the doors of the mall.

The shows begin at 6 pm and are every half hour until 11 pm. The fountains dance along to pop, classical and Arabic music, and it is seriously magical!

I watched a show both in the evening and the daytime and loved both! Although the evening shows are extra cool, with the whole lake and hotels being lit with thousands of lights!

Burj khalifa

The pride and joy of the UAE, Burj is the world’s tallest man-made structure and seriously impressive.

Incredibly, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai stands at a huge 829.8 meters, compared to 324 meters of the Eiffel Tower!

This iconic building offers the most jaw-dropping views of the whole of Dubai. To get to the top ( via elevator) you can buy tickets online here. Tickets cost from 35 euros, and go up to 170 euros, depending on the tickets and tour you choose

Wings of Mexico

A fantastic place for Instagramable photos! The Wings of Mexico is a sculpture specifically designed for the park by Mexican artist Jorge Marin, an expert in Mexican figurative art.

With Burj Khalifa right in the background, this beautiful sculpture is worth visiting if you are Downtown.

The statue is right by the manmade Burj Khalifa Lake. It is surrounded by such beauty and impressive architecture it is definitely worth a visit!

After you finish taking your photos, you can walk along the lake ( around 20 minutes) to the mall.

I was unfortunate enough to miss my photo opportunity here! The day I visited, police closed it off to the general public due to Covid regulations and social distancing! Apparently, a huge crowd gathered there the day before!

Day 2: Dive into Emirati culture

Take a water taxi and discover Old Dubai ( Bur Dubai)

After a whole day of taking in the wonders of modern architecture, fountains, and the mall, do a 180 turn and dive into the culture!

Venture into the old city of Dubai ( called Bur Dubai) via water taxi, and explore the souks and traditional markets!

Bur is a historic district in Dubai, located on the western side of Dubai Creek. The name literally translates to Mainland Dubai. It is a reference to the traditional separation of the Bur Dubai area from Deira by the Dubai Creek.

Definitely worth a spot in your Itinerary for Dubai!

For just AED1 (25 cents!), you can hop aboard one of many traditional boats, known as abras, to cross the creek that separates Bur Dubai from Deira, Dubai’s city center.

Take a ride in the mornings, to observe local traders drop anchor for trade, wooden dhows parked in a colorful array and the occasional ships sail past.

Admire spectacular views of old and new Dubai including traditional houses, towers, and minarets.

The boat ride takes no more than 10 minutes, and upon arriving you feel like you have arrived in a different country!

Dubai Gold and Spice Souk

Dubai Gold Souk or Gold Souk is a traditional market located in Dubai’s commercial business district in Deira. The souk consists of over 380 retailers, most of whom are jewelry traders.

Retail gold rates in Dubai today are: 24K = 218.50 AED, 22K = 205.25 AED, 21K = 195.75 AED, and 18K =168.00 AED.

I didn’t buy a single thing at the Gold Souk but still loved the experience of window shopping and strolling the markets!

Next up, is the Spice Souk, which is located in eastern Dubai, in Deira. It is adjacent to the Dubai Gold Souk.

The smells and colors are incredible, so a stroll there is highly recommended in your itinerary for Dubai.

Among the many spices, you can buy in the spice souk are saffron, chamomile flowers, dried hibiscus flowers, sumac, cardamom, turmeric, thyme, cloves, cinnamon, chili, and pepper of all colors and varieties.

One of the most expensive spices you’ll find here is oud, a block of aromatic wood and saffron.

Dubai Spice Souk is open:

• Sun – Sat 4:00 PM – 10:00 PM
• Sat – Thu 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Tia’s Tip: If the spices aren’t already pre-packaged, they should be placed in a resealable bag or container with a secure lid to travel.

Day 3: Adventure day and more sights

The Frame, And Ski Dubai

The Frame

The Dubai Frame is an architectural landmark in Zabeel Park, Dubai. It holds the record for the largest frame in the world.

The Frame beautifully signifies the passing from Old to New Dubai – and the stark contrast of the two.

It serves as a metaphorical bridge connecting the emirate’s rich past with its magnificent present. They 100% hit the nail on the head with this one, so do add this to your Itinerary for Dubai

 Completed in 2018, it offers visitors unbeatable views of the city’s old and new areas.

It’s cheap to visit ( 12 euros ) and we just bought our tickets at the entrance! You take the elevator up to the top ( 150 meters) and you get to walk on a glass floor – so much fun!

On your way down, there is a super cool 3D show – taking you on a journey of Old Dubai all the way into Future Dubai and how technology is expected to change in the next decades. It was fantastic ( and free of charge to watch).

There is a souvenir shop too filled with cool memorabilia!

It is open 7 days a week from 9 am to 9 pm. However, I would suggest visiting in the morning or during sunset if you want to take pictures!

Ski Dubai

A ski center INSIDE A MALL? oh yes, please!

Ski Dubai is an indoor ski resort with 22,500 square meters of ski area. The park maintains a temperature of -1 degrees.

It is inside the Mall of the Emirates, one of the largest shopping malls in the world.

I couldn’t quite believe how they managed to create a ski center at -1 degrees when outside it was 45 degrees, but this is Dubai for ya!

Such a cool activity for winter sports enthusiasts and a great way to entertain the kids too!

Dubai Marina at night

Dubai Marina is a luxurious residential neighborhood with al fresco dining, beach clubs, Smart cafes, and pop-up craft markets.

The Dubai Marina Mall is packed with chain and luxury fashion brands. Upscale yachts cruise through the large man-made marina, where activities range from jet-skiing to skydiving.

It is of course, excellent to visit at all hours of the day, but it is the place to be at night! So many bars, clubs, and restaurants, as well as beach bars and famous parties, happen there!

It’s a chance to get dolled up and go out for some seriously good food, and elevated cocktails!

Day 4: Fill Your Eyes With Wonder At The Green Planet Dubai !

The Green Planet

Welcome, to a tropical rainforest within a bio-dome sheltering over 3000 species of colorful birds, plants, reptiles & sloths!

The Green Planet is a conservation partner of the Silent Forest Campaign. The objective is to save and protect songbirds by spreading awareness of the dangers like deforestation and illegal trade.

I thought long and hard before visiting because you already know I am so firmly against animal cruelty and exploitation. But I took the decision to visit, and I am glad I did

It really is a tropical rainforest and the attention to detail is incredible, to say the least!

Birds, sloths, and rabbits all roam and eat free here. The 5 floors of the rainforest revolve around this gigantic tree that all creatures live in.

Every hour, there is a live thunderstorm – the ceiling literally rains on the rainforest, along with all of nature’s sounds and smells during a storm.

It is fascinating to see how different species react to the rain – something you would have to travel deep in the jungle to observe.

By the time I got to the basement, I was in love with the Green Planet Dubai. But then I saw some snakes in a glass conservatory.

While I understand the safety reason for it, I still would have preferred them NOT to be there.

All in all, a fantastic activity, for bird lovers, nature enthusiasts, and children too.

Tickets cost 25 euros ( 110-120 AED), and you can book them here! It is open 7 days a week from 10 am to 6 pm (It is indoors).

Museum of Illusions

Enter the fascinating world of illusion which will trick your most fundamental senses, and amaze you in the process! This world will confuse you completely, but also educate you!

It is a small museum so at first, you think there isn’t much to see! But give your camera to one of the staff and ask them to guide you… and you will love it!

We spent over an hour hysterically laughing, It was so much fun! Tickets cost around 20 euros for adults, and 13 for children aged between 5-15. Check out the special prices for families and groups too to save some cash!

Day 5: Brunch And Desert Safari

Brunch

Hello, awesomeness! Any foodie ( but especially vegans) will love this place, that brings Northern California to Dubai!

Such an aesthetically pleasing cafe, with some amazing dishes and no meat in sight! I had the vegan avocado pizza, and the eggplant quesadillas were apparently incredible too.

Great drinks too, incredible staff that is accommodating, but light and bubbly too.

On your way to a desert safari, you will probably get picked up at 3 pm from your hotel. My biggest advice? EAT A LIGHT MEAL!!

I have a strong stomach, but I know for a fact if I had eaten heavily I would most likely vomit at some point during that dune bashing haha!

Brambles Dubai is on the lobby level of the Citadines metro central, a 1-minute walk from the DusitD2 Kenz Hotel

Itinerary For Dubai – Desert Safari

Absolutely incredible, and the ideal way to explore the desert, along with a hearty dose of adventure! Every itinerary for Dubai should definitely include a desert safari!

You will need most of the day for this activity, and I wouldn’t plan to do much afterward – we were exhausted! Pick up from your hotel will be around 3 pm ( please remember not to eat a heavy lunch before).

The Safari Experience

The first stop, is a station where you can rent a quad bike for half an hour in the desert. I DO NOT recommend this – I saw a child being run over by this and she almost broke her leg! The activity is optional and not included in the price ( sneaky)

Next up, the fun begins! Your driver will take you back to your jeep. Then he will proceed to remove most of the air from the tires of the vehicle.

Once you have embarked on the jeep, he graciously hands you a sick bag, in the event that you feel nauseous!

I nearly fled that car at that moment I swear to God haha!

Once inside the desert, the driver skillfully began this strange, incredible ”dance” with the sand dunes. It felt like it went on for years – but it was probably 45 minutes haha!

It was exhilarating, and a little bit scary at times too, but for some reason, I felt safe throughout!

After the safari is done, you are taken to a campsite. There, you are served dinner, with a live belly dance show, as well as free camel rides ( please don’t).

Then, at around 9 pm you are taken back to your hotel, for a long-overdue shower trying to get the sand off your body ( good luck)

In conclusion, this is what you should expect from a desert safari in Dubai:

• Campsite and Sand Buggy.
• Sand Dune Bashing.
• Camels Up Close. ( please do not ride the camels)
• Dinner, Tanoura Dance and Belly Dance.
• Dubai Tip: Desert Dunes an Hour Away from the City.

Tia’s Tip: Wear sunglasses, to avoid sand in your eyes!

Day 6: Madinat Jumeirah

Madinat Jumeirah is an Arabian mini-city in Dubai, filled with five-star hotels, an indoor souk, and beachfront hotspots.

The most beautiful thing here is the 5km river, complete with its own fleet of traditional abra boats. You can take a tour around the river and stop along the way to observe and take it all in!

There are more than 50 restaurants, cafes, and bars for you to choose from! Take your pick from Mexican to Asian, seafood, and award-winning European cuisines!

The indoor ( and heavily airconditioned) souk is pretty great if you are traveling during the scorching heat or with young children!

Day 7: Live The High Life At A Beach bar

And either party into the night or watch a live show!

Barasti Beach Bar

My social media following went into a complete frenzy over this beach club, and I don’t blame you all! Gorgeous is an understatement for Barasti Beach Bar and the best part of it… it is FREE to get in!

That’s right folks, this is probably the only free beach club in Dubai, and when it looks like that…I have no complaints!

Sunbeds and use of the pool are free, but of course, you must order some type of drinks or food at some point in the day!

There is a beach area too, with incredible views, but I couldn’t peel myself from the coolness of the pool! The temperature is controlled, and the top is covered, so it is deliciously cool!

So many times, when traveling, we try to cram as many things as possible into each day! I am guilty of this too, and we somehow forget that this is a vacation!

So in your itinerary for Dubai…relax….and spent a lazy day (with parties that continue into the evening too) doing absolutely nothing 🙂

Dubai Tips – Best month to visit Dubai

The month in which you choose, to visit a destination can alter your budget dramatically!

More often than not, I visit destinations during their ”off-season” months.

This ensures me fewer crowds, cheaper flights and accommodation, and a generally better travel experience!

So if we are talking about seriously good Dubai tips, let’s start there!

What is the cheapest month to fly to Dubai?

Basically, flying during the off-season will be cheaper overall, both for flights and accommodation.

The low season in Dubai is between the months of June to August. By June, temperatures and humidity begin to soar, and climax in July and August with temperatures that hit the high 40s in the daytime.

Can you handle the HEAT? I live on the scorching hot island of Cyprus so I can! Therefore I visited several countries in the UAE In June, July, AND August too.

The high season is November to January. Europe is in full-on winter mode but Dubai offers clear skies and comfortable temperatures during these months! If you wish to travel during the high season then book your tickets at least 3 weeks In advance

Dubai Tips – How about the best time to visit Dubai?

September, April, and May are great because it is sunny, but not hot and you can literally be out and about all day without any problems!

What is the best airline to fly to Dubai?

Overall, Emirates, Qatar and British Airways are fantastic airlines for Dubai trips. Emirates charges approximately 500 euros for a direct flight from Larnaca to Dubai Airport.

HOWEVER! To save some serious cash, book a direct flight with Wizz Airlines ( from Larnaca) to Abu Dhabi instead. From there grab a taxi to Dubai ( 60 minutes approximately).

My flight cost me 150 euros, and another 50 euros ( that we shared between the two of us) for the taxi.

I just saved my budget 300 euros!

Is Dubai expensive to visit?

Well yes, but no more than other major cities in the world like Singapore, NYC, London, Paris, and so on!

Hotels and excursions can cost A LOT, or be very reasonable – depending on where you go! Don’t forget that Dubai is home for many of the world’s most extravagant and luxurious hotels!

Restaurant prices are comparable to those in Western European cities but you can also find a plethora of local and budget restaurants too!

How much spending money will I need for a week in Dubai?

Here is a breakdown of what a week in Dubai cost me:

• Flight: 150 euros
• Taxi to and from the airport: 50 euros total
• 4 * Hotel: 300 euros – ( per person). I stayed at the DusitD2 Kenz Hotel Dubai
• Food, Activities, Taxis, Metro card and some light shopping

In total, my trip cost me 1100 euros. I am a reasonable traveler. For example, I didn’t stay in Dubai Marina, because to me, it served no purpose.

Personally, I was there to explore, so all I needed was a good central area with good metro connections and close enough to everything!

How About Traveling During Covid?

During these confusing times, these types of questions come first in my list of Dubai Tips to dish out

In July 2021 when I was visiting, Passengers from Cyprus had to get a PCR 72hrs before arrival ( 40 euros cost). Then, we a second PCR upon arrival in Abi Dhabi Airport ( Free of charge).

Then a third PCR 48 hrs before departure ( 30 euros). Once we landed in Cyprus, unvaccinated passengers had to have another PCR test, while vaccinated passengers did not.

Do I Need a Visa To Visit?

Cypriot passport holders do not need a visa to enter, but there are a few other requirements to be aware of, that you can read about here. The highlighted text includes Visa Information for other passport holders too!

How can I go to Dubai on a budget?

Sure you can! If you are a freak of self-control 🙂

In my opinion, the hardest temptation is resisting the urge to shop! There are so many amazing stores everywhere, from all over the world I found it hard to resist!

Then, there are the spice souks and the Gold souk, where cuisine or jewelry lovers will lose their minds in.

The food is pretty easy to budget! Every restaurant under the sun is there – from junk food to the highest gourmet cuisine, so there are always alternatives! For low-cost food, Bur Dubai and Deira are your best bet. There, you will find a number of budget local restaurants.

Is Dubai Marina a good place to stay?

Yes, if you can afford it! BothThe Marina & Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR) are fantastic places to stay, but then again so are a lot of other neighborhoods that won’t cost an arm and a leg!

The Marina and JBR are the most Westernized areas in the city and a great walkable part of the new Dubai.

Tia’s Top Dubai Tip: Another great and more budget-friendly area to stay in is the Barsha Heights Area.

This is where I stayed! Barsha Heights offers easy access to Dubai Media City, Dubai World Trade Centre, and prime shopping, business, and cultural attractions.

 From Dubai Internet City Metro Station, it is a straight and quick ride to the Mall of the Emirates (3.4 km), Dubai Marina ( 5 km ) Dubai Mall, (16km), and more.

Dubai International Airport is just 28 kilometers away while the new Al Maktoum Airport is 23 kilometers away.

Is all inclusive worth it in Dubai?

Not in my opinion! Dubai literally bursts at the seams with activities, malls, restaurants, waterparks, safaris, beach clubs, and more! An all-inclusive will simply chain you to your hotel all day – and that’s a wasted trip for me!

Having said that, if you are traveling for a long period of time, and have money to spend, an all-inclusive luxury hotel is a faaaaabulous idea for a few days at the end of your holiday.

Are you supposed to tip in Dubai?

Yes, but it isn’t compulsory, so do it when you feel like it! Remember to check your bill though, because most restaurants will include a service charge already!

Do and don’ts in Dubai

This magnificent destination will be best enjoyed by following the rules, respecting the culture, and staying out of trouble with the law.

This is why, I wrote an easy 2021 list of things not to do in Dubai as a woman, or a male traveler to ensure you travel as safely and enjoyably as possible!

After all, no one wants to ruin their holidays, or disrespect someone’s culture by accident!

The problem is, the rules here, are not always clear or known to everyone – and its Islamic values and roots are often overlooked.

So to avoid all that, keep reading for the things not to do in Dubai!

We will discuss the rules, the dress code, visiting during Ramadan, and of course… what it is like for a woman traveling to Dubai! Below, I will be answering the most commonly asked questions I get from people wanting to visit this magnificent city.

What are some Do and don’ts in Dubai?

Rules for visiting Dubai

• Don’t Drink and Drive. The rules are VERY strict, and the slightest amount of alcohol can earn you a night in a prison cell! If you wish to drink, then take a taxi.
• Avoid making rude hand gestures or swearing. People in Dubai are gentle and polite!
• Don’t point fingers at people – no matter how peculiar a sight may be. Staring at the local women is a big No-No ( mot that you should be staring at ANY woman…EVER.
• During Ramadan, do not explicitly eat, drink or smoke in public. I’ll explain more about this below!
• Don’t dress immodestly when visiting religious places like mosques. Again, I’ll elaborate below!
• Do not smoke in shopping malls, offices, and government areas. In general smoking is prohibited in most places! You can smoke outside in designated areas only. Some restaurants with outdoor patio in Dubai mall for example, still will not allow you to smoke!

Visiting Dubai as a woman

Contrary to popular belief visiting Dubai as a woman is not that dangerous and certainly not impossible!

In reality, the city ranks pretty high on the list of the world’s safest cities – and there are even some perks to traveling there as a woman!

First things first – Female travelers don’t need to wear a burka. To Enter a mosque, you will need to cover your hair and shoulders with something. I aaaaaalways carry a pashmina with me and use it as a cover-up, sarong, and headscarf too.

You are most certainly allowed to rent and drive a car there too. If not, it is safe to take taxis alone, and even stay in a hotel too.

What should I wear in Dubai?’

You can basically wear anything you want here- with a few subtle tweaks here and there!

This is a Muslim country, so cleavage, or excess amount of skin, in general, is frowned upon.

Especially in the new part of Dubai, where a lot of the sights are, you can be a bit more relaxed.

When visiting the Old Town, however, it is better to stick to things like loose long trousers, and maxi dresses. This is where you will find the souks (markets) like the Gold Souk, Spice Souk, and so on.

My favorite garments to wear in Dubai are maxi shirts with crop tops (with no cleavage) and maxi dresses! I detest wearing trousers in the summer, but maxis are fantastic – loose, light, breathable, and comfortable too! WIN.

Can I wear shorts in Dubai?

This is another suuuuper coming question – because of that scorching heat!

The answer is yes – with a big CAUTION sign around it! You can dress as casually as you want, as long as it’s appropriate. You can wear shorts in Dubai, but keep it classy and wear longer-style shorts ( or skirts) that are closer to knee length.

Wearing teeny tiny shorts is definitely on the list of ”what not to do in Dubai”

I didn’t even bother packing shorts on either of my trips to the UAE!

We women are so lucky to have a huge array of clothes to choose from – I simply didn’t see the point in packing a garment that might offend someone!

Having said that, I hardly saw anyone in shorts when I visited in 2009, but SO many when I revisited in 2021! Things are changing here, and a lot of the locals turn a blind eye.

However, the law is on their side, so if someone gets offended, you will be in the wrong and not them!

What to wear at the beach

This is a bit weird, I’ll admit! As long as you are on the sand, or at the pool you can wear a bikini how you would back home.

But beware!

• you need to cover up upon leaving or visiting a bar or restaurant. And no, I am not talking about a sheer or skimpy cover-up. I mean clothes haha!
• No topless or skinny dipping allowed – on public or private beaches
• Avoid transparent tops and skinny thong bottoms

I arrived in a maxi dress, with a tiny bikini underneath for a day at Barasti Beach Club (highly recommended), and had zero problems.

What should I wear on a safari?

Well, you’ll be sitting in a car for a desert safari – so make sure you are comfortable. At the end of the safari, they will take you to an area where you can disembark the jeep and take sunset photos in the desert!

If you are a smoker, don’t forget to take your portable ashtray with you to avoid littering!

To take the most incredible desert photos, I suggest going for a strong monochromatic outfit that will pop with the color of your surroundings! A pair of studded boots will look great, and are super practical too – the sand is so fine it gets everywhere!

How dangerous is Dubai?

As I said above, the city is considered one of the safest cities in the world, and it is also heavily monitored. The police certainly earn their wages I’ll tell you that!

The most you have to worry about is petty theft, like pickpocketing, and taxis taking the long route or ”getting lost”. Seriously…. taxi drivers in every city are the woooorst haha!

Sexual harassment is not unlikely either – catcalling is, unfortunately, evident on every continent. I think women should go on a catcalling spree on men for a year and see how much it will annoy them too haha!

Benefits for Women visiting Dubai – What are Ladies Nights?

Can I drink Alcohol in Dubai ?

Yes, you can, if you are over 21. There are numerous bars, restaurants and hotels that all serve delicious cocktails and alcohol and I was never questioned.

Drinking on the street ( or being caught drunk ) can land you in trouble though! I witnessed an English tourist get into a fight with a taxi driver and he ended up getting arrested for being drunk and loud.

Can you hug in Dubai Airport?

Yes, straight couples can kiss and hug a loved one at the Airport, you may even hold hands. But no heavy PDA is allowed, so keep your hands where they can be seen!

What are the Rules for Gay couples?

Unfortunately, same-sex relationships in the UAE are prohibited and LGBT+ rights are heavily suppressed.

PDA (Public displays of affection), while frowned upon for straight couples, are a strict no-no for gay couples. Cross-dressing in public is illegal too, and transgender travelers could face issues when filing official documentation. 

Gay travelers sharing a hotel room will be ok if they choose an international branded hotel in the new part of the city.

There’s obviously no gay night scene here, but consider visiting The Play Room at The Oberoi, Barberry at Tryp by Wyndham, and Zinc at the Crowne Plaza.

Visiting during Ramadan

The holy month of Ramadan is sacred to Muslims and comes with its own set of rules!

As a non-Muslim tourist, you do not have to fast or follow the rules of it, but there are a few things to know before you visit. Find them in the list below.

• Eating, drinking and smoking in public is not allowed
• Chewing gum is also not allowed
• Cover shoulders and knees in public
• Many businesses, restaurants and sights will have different opening hours – please make sure you call ahead!

What can I not bring to Dubai?

• Drugs or ANY kind, including hashish, cocaine, heroin, poppy seeds and hallucination pills.
• Items from Israeli origin, or with an Israeli logo
• Any Goods imported from boycotted countries.
• Crude ivory and rhinoceros horn.

What is illegal in Dubai?

• Importing Pork.
• Getting any type of Pornography into the UAE
• Drugs. There is zero tolerance for drugs-related offences
• Offensive behaviour
• Relationships outside marriage
• Same-sex relationships

A Useful Intoduction

Located in the Barsha Heights district of Dubai facing Sheikh Zayed Road, the dusitD2 Kenz hotel is an upscale, contemporary hotel that caters to both business and leisure travelers.

This contemporary hotel comprises of 237 rooms and suites, an executive floor, a rooftop pool, a spa, and a fitness center.

How far is Dusit D2 Kenz Hotel Dubai from the center of Dubai?

Dusit D2 Kenz Hotel Dubai is only 14 km (8.7 miles) from the center of Dubai. The fantastic thing about it is that there is a tube station literally 30 seconds from the hotel!

The hotel is strategically located next to Dubai Internet City Metro Station, with major leisure and business destinations such as Dubai World Trade Centre, Dubai International Airport, Dubai Marina, and Dubai Mall within easy reach.

Its location and proximity to everything is the hotel’s biggest selling point because it’s just so convenient when sightseeing, going out to dinner, drinks, etc.

How do I get to Dusitd2 Kenz Hotel Dubai?

DusitD2 Kenz Hotel Dubai is easy to access from the airport.

Option No 1: Grab a taxi from right outside the airport

Option Number 2: Take the Metro! The Dubai Metro station serves passengers using Terminal 3 of Dubai International Airport. It is on the Red Line. Trains from here go directly to popular destinations such as Dubai Marina, Jumeirah Lakes Towers, the Dubai Mall, Burj Khalifa, Al Barsha, and Dubai World Trade Centre.

Option Number 3: Order a private transfer from DusitD2 Kenz Hotel. The cost is 185 AED ( euros)

Does The Hotel Have Parking?

Yes, dusitD2 Kenz Hotel Dubai has a car park right on-site for maximum convenience. Parking is free for guests.

Parking options include a full-service valet for total ease. If you’re looking for an easy way to get around Dubai with private transportation, the hotel can arrange both taxis or car rental.

How much does it cost to stay at Dusit D2 Kenz Hotel Dubai?

Less than you think, but of course, it all depends on when you visit and the type of room you choose to stay in.

What time is check-in and check-out at Dusitd2 Kenz Hotel Dubai?

Check-in is from 02:00 PM, and check-out is until midnight. You may request early check-in or late check-out during booking, subject to availability.

The hotel offers luggage storage to guests before check-in and after check-out. The front desk is always open, day or night.

How are the Rooms?

The Deluxe room I stayed in was beaaaaaautiful! Extra-long, comfortable beds, tasteful decor, and views to die for from the balcony!

The wifi inside the room was great too, which helped as I was editing videos and pictures every night in bed haha!

In typical Dubai fashion, the AC inside the room could keep an Olympic stadium cold – I had to sleep with a hoodie every night and I keep the damn thing at 26 degrees on the low fan!

In general, though, It is built to hold its temperature and it feels like heaven every time you enter it, even if the AC hasn’t been on for hours. Don’t ask me how they do it – I haven’t a clue- it’s magic!

The walk-in shower is lovely too, although I am not the biggest fan of the green lighting – they missed the mark with this one!

I slept like a baby for the entire week – a combination of excellent blackout curtains, noise insulation, and fantastic beds too!

Is the Breakfast and food good?

The breakfast is served in a beautiful area and consists of a continental buffet, tea, coffee, and juices.

Then you fill in a form ticking off ingredients you would like to add to your cooked hot dish and it is delivered to your table!

My friend is vegan, and they went above and beyond to serve him a breakfast he could eat – even adding a whole avocado to his dish- that was not on the list.

As for the rest of the food, DusitD2 Kenz Hotel offers unique dining options at the Ostro and Wise Kwai restaurants, taking diners on a memorable journey defined by Mediterranean cuisine and Thai market street food.

What amenities does the hotel have?

• For starters – and this is important – the deluxe rooms and the suites all have balconies. And believe me when I say, that this is not easy to find in Dubai! I am a smoker so a balcony was a must for me – and pretty convenient to put out towels and wet clothes to dry too. I find everywhere in Dubai is almost damp with the Ac’s! It was nice to air out the room naturally every day!
• There is a rooftop swimming pool and a small gym
• Private taxis available to book at the reception
• Free wifi
• On-site Restaurant
• Free Parking
• Car Hire Services
• Ticket booking services for various sightseeing tours and shows

Can I stay with my girlfriend in a hotel in Dubai?

Yes, you can! Sexual relationships or unmarried couples cohabiting in a home or a hotel is illegal in Dubai.

The luxury hotels which mostly cater to foreigners are especially relaxed on this rule, but there is some good news!

As of 2020, The UAE Government announced changes in the country’s Islamic personal laws.

As per the new rule, unmarried couples in UAE will now be permitted to stay together. So yes you may stay with your boyfriend or girlfriend in a hotel in Dubai.
