This beautiful island located southeast of Bali, is a hidden gem waiting to be explored.

With stunning beaches, dramatic cliffs, and crystal-clear waters, Nusa Penida offers a plethora of activities for adventure seekers and nature lovers.

We’ll divide these activities by area, making it easier to plan your days on the island, as well as your Nusa Penida Accommodation.

Is Nusa Penida worth visiting

Nusa Penida is definitely worth visiting for its breathtaking landscapes alone! There are unparalleled adventure opportunities, from hiking and cliff diving to exploring vibrant coral reefs through snorkeling and scuba diving.

Its natural beauty and less crowded atmosphere provide a unique and memorable experience compared to more touristy destinations in Bali.

But please be advised: This island is NOT for the lazy tourist. You will need to hike, trek, and squeeze through mountains to explore it. If you love the great outdoors and are up for an adventure, Penida is the island for you.

I have spent extensive time in Indonesia, and after Komodo National Park, I can safely say Nusa Penida is my favorite!

How many days in Nusa Penida

Spending at least 2 to 3 days in Nusa Penida is ideal for exploring its main attractions without feeling rushed. This timeframe allows for a balanced mix of adventure, relaxation, and experiencing the island’s natural beauty.

The Best Things to Do in Nusa Penida

To make the most of your trip and enjoy all the things to do in Nusa Penida, consider the following tips:

• Packing: Bring water, snacks, sunscreen, and a hat. carry portable phone chargers or camera batteries because you will be taking pictures constantly!
• Respect Local Culture: Dress modestly when visiting temples, and respect local customs and traditions.
• Footwear: Comfortable, non-slip shoes are essential for hikes and steep descents.
• Safety: You will witness the incredible wonders of nature. Raw, rugged nature – which is often unpredictable. PLEASE be careful when hiking, swimming, and taking pictures.

With all of that being said, keep reading for incredible things to do in Nusa Penida!

West Nusa Penida

1. Kelingking Beach

Begin your adventure with a visit to the iconic Kelingking Beach. This spot is one of the best beaches in Nusa Penida and is renowned for its T-Rex-shaped cliff.

You can walk around and take pictures of the views and monkeys or you can choose to get down to the beach to swim.

To get there, take a hike down the steep path to the beach. (The word Hike will become a staple in this article!)

Once you reach the bottom, you’ll be rewarded with pristine sands and turquoise waters.

2. Angel’s Billabong

Next, head to Angel’s Billabong, a natural infinity pool set against a stunning cliff backdrop. Check the tides before you go, though, as it can be dangerous during high tide.

Walk to the right side of the infinity pool and you will be rewarded with breathtaking waves crashing against the cliffs.

3. Broken Beach (Pasih Uug)

Nearby, you’ll find Broken Beach, known for its unique archway that allows the ocean to flow into a pool.

The circular rock formation and the natural bridge are perfect for photo opportunities. It’s a short walk from Angel’s Billabong, making it ideal to combine.

4. Crystal Bay

Finish your day at Crystal Bay, a great spot for snorkeling in Penida and watching the sunset.

The coral reefs are vibrant, and you might even spot some Mola Mola fish if you’re lucky. Rent snorkeling gear from nearby shops and dive into the clear waters.

5. Scuba Diving

If you are into diving, then Indonesia will be extra heavenly for you! The underwater world is jaw-dropping – and you will see everything – from sharks to rays, mantas, mola molas, and giant turtles.

Nusa Penida has some excellent scuba diving sites, just waiting to be explored!

Central Nusa Penida

6. Goa Giri Putri Temple

Start your central Nusa Penida adventure with a visit to Goa Giri Putri Temple, the temple inside a cave! This sacred cave temple is hidden within a mountain.

To enter, you must first climb 110+ steps, then crawl through a narrow passage, but the vast cavern inside is worth it. While the entrance is entirely non-spiritual, the energy inside is very different.

You walk through the temples, observe the spiritual ceremonies exit on the opposite side of the mountain and walk back round a path to the car park.

Remember to dress modestly and bring a sarong. You can also rent one from the entrance. Duration: 30- 60 minutes

7. Teletubbies Hill (Bukit Teletubbies)

Next, explore the rolling hills of Bukit Teletubbies. These lush, green mounds resemble the landscape from the Teletubbies TV show.

The view is breathtaking, and it’s a great spot for a leisurely walk and panoramic photos.

I would particularly visit this spot with a drone- the images will be stunning!

8. Seganing Waterfall

Continue your journey to Seganing Waterfall, a less-visited gem.

Please ONLY visit this waterfall if you are an experienced hiker/trekker and are in great physical health.

The trek to the waterfall is very challenging, involving a steep descent. You have to zig-zag down the rock via a very steep and at times slippery path.

However, the effort is worth it when you see the secluded falls and the view of the ocean.

East Nusa Penida

9. Atuh Beach

On the east side of the island, start with Atuh Beach. Dramatic cliffs and unique rock formations flank this stunning beach. The water is calm and perfect for swimming.

To get there, you’ll need to hike down a path, but the scenery is worth it.

10. Diamond Beach

Next, visit Diamond Beach, known for its white sands and crystal-clear waters.

Again, you can choose to walk to the various viewpoints and take in the views. Alternatively, you can hike down to the beach!

The hike down can be challenging, but the picturesque beach, with its towering cliffs and palm trees, is a must-see.

11. Nusa Penida tree house (Rumah Poho)

While in the area, don’t miss the famous Tree House. It offers a unique vantage point overlooking the ocean and surrounding cliffs.

It’s an Instagram-worthy spot and a great place to take in the natural beauty of Nusa Penida.

12. Thousand Islands Nusa Penida Viewpoint

Adjacent to the Tree House is the Thousand Islands Viewpoint.

The view from here is stunning, with numerous rock formations jutting out of the turquoise waters.

It’s a perfect spot for panoramic photos and to soak in the island’s beauty.

South Nusa Penida

13. Peguyangan Waterfall – Nusa Penida Waterfall

Get ready for some more of that famous Nusa Penida Hiking! In the south, start with Peguyangan Waterfall.

To reach it, you’ll descend a series of blue stairs along a cliffside – around 700 steps (!), offering breathtaking ocean views.

At the bottom, you’ll find a (very) small waterfall and a sacred temple. The journey itself is an adventure.

Tias’s Tip: If you love waterfalls but don’t want to hike and trek – Bali has incredible waterfalls that are much more accessible/tourist-friendly.

14. Tembeling Natural Pool

Next, head to Tembeling Natural Pool. This secluded spot offers a natural pool surrounded by lush forest.

It’s a bit off the beaten path, but the tranquility and clear water make it a perfect place for a refreshing dip.

15. Amok Sunset – Nusa Penida Sunset

No better way to end the day than with Amok Sunset Beach bar ( check out my article on Nusa Penida beach clubs if this is fully booked!)

With two beautiful pools—one an infinity pool—overlooking the ocean, this is the perfect spot to end your day or a delicious sunset gourmet dinner.

How to get to Nusa Penida

First up, you need to fly to Bali which is the most common departure point, then get a ferry to Nusa Penida.

From Bali To Penida

Speedboats are the fastest and most popular way to reach Nusa Penida from Bali. There are multiple departure points in Bali:

• Sanur Beach: The most common departure point. Speedboats from Sanur Beach take approximately 30 to 45 minutes to reach Nusa Penida.
• Padang Bai: Located in East Bali, speedboats from Padang Bai take about 45 minutes to an hour. This option is convenient if you’re staying in the eastern part of Bali.
• Serangan Harbor: Speedboats from Serangan Harbor take around 45 minutes to reach Nusa Penida. This departure point is convenient for those staying in southern Bali.

Booking Tickets: You can book tickets online in advance or purchase them at the harbor. During peak seasons, it’s advisable to book ahead to ensure availability.

Cost: Speedboat tickets typically range from IDR 150,000 to IDR 300,000 per person, depending on the company and class of service.

Schedule: Speedboats operate multiple times a day, usually starting from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Check the schedule in advance to plan your trip accordingly.

Nusa Lembongan to Nusa penida

Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Penida are two of the three Nusa Islands located southeast of Bali, with Nusa Ceningan being the third. Traveling between Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Penida is very easy!

By Public Boat

Public boats are the most economical option for traveling between the islands. They typically depart from the Jungut Batu Harbor in Nusa Lembongan and arrive at Toyapakeh or Sampalan Harbor in Nusa Penida.

• Schedule: Public boats usually operate in the morning, with departures around 7:30 AM to 8:30 AM. The return trips from Nusa Penida to Nusa Lembongan are often in the late afternoon.
• Duration: The journey takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes.
• Cost: Tickets are affordable, usually costing around IDR 50,000 to IDR 100,000 per person. (3-6 Euros)

2. Fast Boat

Fast boats provide a quicker and more comfortable journey between Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Penida.

• Schedule: Fast boats have multiple departures throughout the day, making it easier to find a time that suits your schedule.
• Duration: The trip takes around 10 to 15 minutes.
• Cost: Tickets typically range from IDR 100,000 to IDR 150,000 per person. (6-9 euros)
• Booking: You can book tickets online, through your accommodation, or directly at the harbor.

Nusa Penida vs Nusa Lembongan

Both part of the Nusa Islands trio near Bali, they offer distinct experiences for travelers.

Nusa Penida, larger and more rugged, is known for its dramatic landscapes like Kelingking Beach, Angel’s Billabong, and the underwater wonders of Crystal Bay, making it ideal for adventure seekers and nature lovers.

In contrast, Nusa Lembongan is smaller and more laid-back, with beautiful beaches such as Dream Beach and Mushroom Bay, vibrant coral reefs perfect for snorkeling and diving, and a charming, relaxed vibe that appeals to those looking for a more leisurely escape.

Both islands provide unique and memorable experiences, but Nusa Penida stands out for its wild, untamed beauty.

On the other hand, Nusa Lembongan offers a more serene and accessible tropical getaway. Personally, I visited both, and spent 3 days on each island.

P.s If you have mobility issues, Nusa Penida will be very difficult to explore.

Scooter Rental Penida and Car Rental Nusa Penida

The best way to get around the island is either to rent a scooter or hire a driver. For some reason, no one will let you rent a car, unless someone else is driving it!

Some roads are steep and rough, so drive carefully, especially if you’re not an experienced rider.

How to get to Sentosa Island

Getting to Sentosa Island is a breeze, with multiple transportation options available. Find them all below!

By rail

The most popular way to reach the island is via the Sentosa Express, a monorail that connects Sentosa to the VivoCity shopping mall on the mainland. To get here, head to VivoCity Lobby L, Level 3.

Trip Duration: 8 minutes Price: 4 dollars. Trains operate from 7 am until 12 am the next day!

On Foot

If you are up for a 25-minute pleasant walk, consider going on foot!

It’s a stroll from VivoCity shopping mall’s waterfront promenade, made easy by a two-way canopy-covered travellator.

It is the only garden-themed boardwalk in Southeast Asia, featuring five tropical landscapes- all indigenous to Singapore.

Overlooking the bay, the Sentosa Boardwalk also boasts extensive vantage lookout points for guests to enjoy the sunset, the arrival of cruise liners from the sea, and outdoor performances.

The walk starts from VivoCity Lobby F, Level 1.

Cable Car

A more expensive but totally worthwhile form of transportation is a cable car ride from Mount Faber or HarbourFront.

The Cable Car ride rewards you with an aerial overview of Singapore’s city skyline, the harbor, and Sentosa Island including Resorts World Sentosa and Universal Studios.

I hopped on the cable car from Mount Faber and was in Sentosa 15 minutes later.

By Bus

Bus 123 is a Direct bus to Sentosa Island that you can take from multiple points of mainland Singapore. It stops at Resorts World Sentosa, Village Hotel, and the Beach Station.

By Car

You can drive into the island via the Sentosa Gateway. Island Admission can be auto-deducted via the CashCard inserted in your in-vehicle unit (I.U.) or via cash paid to our counters at the gantry.

For those driving, there are ample parking facilities available on the island.

Cycling

Singapore simply begs you to be outdoors! Did you know that you can make your way into Sentosa by cycling too?

Cycling has been a leisure activity on Sentosa since the island’s early beginnings in 1972.

Therefore, cycling and pedestrian linkways are available for guests to move around the island in comfort and safety. Lastly, you get to explore Sentosa gems which can only be accessible on foot and bicycle.

One of the best things to do at Sentosa Island is definitely to visit this park!

Embark on an epic adventure at Universal Studios Singapore, Southeast Asia’s only Universal Studios theme park.

2. S.E.A. Aquarium

I have thought long and hard about whether to include this activity. How ethical are aquariums? The quick answer is they arent ethical at all.

But, how important is it to use the numbers to raise awareness and preserve endangered species? I quote from a study I found questioning and analyzing the ethics of SEA: ”Within 3 months of its opening, the S.E.A. Aquarium had more than 500’000 visitors (MLP, 2013)—this power to reach out to the numbers on important issues about marine conservation must be capitalized on. As much as the motivation for their efforts is questionable, the efforts made can have an incredible impact on spreading awareness about environmental issues”.

I learned a great deal from my visit. The information provided was so vast. My time there was an education course about thousands of species, a lot of them on the brink of extinction.

Dive into the depths of the ocean at S.E.A. Aquarium, one of the largest aquariums in the world.

Home to over 100,000 marine animals representing more than 1,000 species, this immersive attraction offers a mesmerizing glimpse into the wonders of the underwater world.

Explore themed habitats like the Open Ocean, Shark Seas, and Coral Garden, and marvel at majestic creatures such as manta rays, hammerhead sharks, and giant octopuses.

3. Adventure Cove Waterpark

Cool off from the tropical heat at Adventure Cove Waterpark, where thrilling slides, lazy rivers, and wave pools await.

Zoom down high-speed slides like the Riptide Rocket and Pipeline Plunge, float along the Adventure River, or snorkel with thousands of colorful fish at the Rainbow Reef.

4. Ziplining Fun

If you like adventure and outdoor sports, try ziplining at Mega Adventure Park.

Here, you can fly on a 450m zipline over the Imbiah Hill Jungle overlooking Siloso Beach.

This activity is suited for all ages, as kids under 30kg can fly with their parents or friends. Tickets to the park are valid for 90 days and you do not need to make special reservations. It’s first come first served!

5. Bunjee Jumping

For the daredevils, the 50-meter-high bungee jump off  Skypark Sentosa Bungy Tower will excite you!

Created by none other than bungee pioneer AJ Hackett this is as thrilling as it gets! Whether you choose to jump head first or with a flip off the edge, is up to you, the rest is up to the professionals there!

At the park, there’s also the Skybridge – a 40m high walkway with see-through sections – and a Giant Swing that’ll hurtle you towards the beach at 120km/h. If you are into adventures, this is the place for you!

​6. Fort Siloso

For a dose of culture and history, visit Fort Siloso, Singapore’s only preserved coastal fort that served as part of the country’s defence.

The on-site military museum contains a treasure trove of WWII memorabilia, including coastal guns, the remains of fortified military structures and tunnels, as well as an interactive video documentary, complete with wax figures of Japanese & British soldiers at the Surrender Chambers.

• Admission: FREE
• Fort Siloso & Surrender Chambers: 9 am – 6 pm
• Exhibits opens at 10 am. Last admission at 5.30 pm
• Fort Siloso Skywalk lift operates from 9 am – 10 pm

7. Beach Hopping

In addition to its major attractions, Sentosa Island offers a wealth of other activities to enjoy. There is a 2km stretch of sheltered beach on its southern coast, divided into three portions: Palawan Beach, Siloso Beach and Tanjong Beach.

So spending a lazy day beach hopping, and lounging on pristine beaches is one of the great things to do at Sentosa Island.

8. Wings of Time Show

As the sun sets, don’t miss the spectacular Wings of Time show, a dazzling multimedia extravaganza that combines lasers, water jets, and fireworks against the backdrop of the open sea.

Join Rachel and Felix on a magical journey through time and space as they embark on an epic adventure filled with wonder, romance, and breathtaking visuals.

With its stunning special effects and captivating storyline, Wings of Time is a must-see attraction for visitors to Sentosa Island.

Welcome to Odysseus Home

Worldwide famous as the home of Odysseus, Ithaca symbolizes the return to the haven and our roots.

Nowadays Ithaca Greece is a peaceful, quiet, and undiscovered island living up to the standards of the most demanding travelers.

The Myth Behind Ithaca Greece

When Odysseus set off to war in search of eternal glory in Troy, his beloved wife, Penelope, was left alone not knowing if her husband would ever return.

Throughout the years, the palace was filled with suitors who would flirt with the queen persistently. They eventually forced her to promise to remarry – to one of them. To keep them at bay, she came up with a clever plan! She vowed to remarry – but only when she would have finished weaving a shroud.

So, she spent the daytime weaving it and the nighttime unweaving it. Thus, she managed to stay clear of the suitors for 20 years, until Odysseus returned to Ithaca.

Why you should choose Ithaca Greece for a day trip

A day trip to Ithaca is a great way to incorporate a bit of Greek Island Hopping into your travels!

There is also much to do and see on the island in the space of a single day! You can certainly choose to stay overnight and stretch your trip to 2-3 days as desired!

Accommodation options in Ithaca

I fell in love with Kefalonia, and I thought my Ithaca day trip would be a bit of a disappointment in comparison. I am glad to say that I was sorely mistaken! The island is beautiful, with so much character and history behind it, definitely worth a visit.

Ithaca Greece: The Ferry Over

Begin your journey by catching the early morning ferry from Kefalonia to Ithaca Greece. The ferry takes a mere 20 mins and costs just 3 euros! There are several ferries during the day, with the earliest one leaving at 7.05 am. You can find ferry options here.

We took the ferry at 8.15 am and also took our rented car from Kefalonia with us. The cost to take the car with us was 20 euros (in addition to the 3 euros for an adult ticket)

This was a great decision because we didn’t need to worry about transportation once we had arrived in Ithaca! It is also the more cost-effective option. Taxis in Ithaca Greece are available, but they can be expensive.

What To Do in Ithaca Greece:

As you step ashore in Ithaca, you’ll be greeted by the island’s tranquil charm and warm hospitality.

As ferries and boats glide into the harbor in the main town of Vathy, visitors are greeted by a scene straight out of a postcard, with colorful fishing boats bobbing gently on the crystal-clear waters of the Ionian Sea.

The port area is bustling with activity, yet retains a relaxed and laid-back atmosphere that is characteristic of island life. Cute waterfront tavernas line the promenade, and visitors soak in the stunning views of the harbor and surrounding hillsides.

At the heart of the port stands the bustling marina, where local fishermen unload their daily catch. It is a busy port, with boats of all sizes coming and going throughout the day.

Admire the Architecture

The architecture in Ithaca Greece is a charming blend of traditional Greek island style with influences from its rich history and culture. Whitewashed buildings adorned with vibrant blue accents characterize the picturesque villages that dot the island’s landscape.

As you venture further into the island’s interior, you’ll encounter stone-built houses nestled amidst olive groves and vineyards. Many of these traditional homes feature terracotta-tiled roofs, wooden shutters, and intricate wrought-iron balconies.

Throughout Ithaca, you’ll also find remnants of ancient architecture, including ruins of Venetian castles, Byzantine churches, and archaeological sites dating back to antiquity. These historical landmarks add to the island’s allure, providing glimpses into its storied past.

Explore the villages

Vathy
Vathy is the capital of the island and home to the Maritime and the Folkloric Museums. It is also home to the renowned Archaeological Museum of Ithaca. Vathý is built on a bay the center of which is decorated by the tiny little island of Lazarétto. Interestingly enough, Lazaretto is a former sanatorium and prison!

Perahori
A gorgeous scenic little village with a breathtaking view over the island. Built at the edge of the Afentikós Lógos forest, it is the perfect starting point for walks by medieval ruins in the oaks.

Hike the Hiking Trails

With its 27-kilometre long and 6.5-kilometre large mountainous surface, it boasts plenty of hiking as well as mountain bike trails. You’ll find them alongside the coast and through olive, cypress, pine, oak, arbutus, and carob trees up on the hills. 

Many old footpaths cross the island and lead to tiny chapels, secluded beaches and hilltops with breathtaking views.

Stunning Sightseeing

One of the most iconic architectural landmarks in Ithaca is the Monastery of Panagia Kathariotissa. It is perched high on a hilltop overlooking Vathy. It has whitewashed walls and a red dome, that offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscape!

Discover the ancient history of Ithaca at the Archaeological Museum of Ithaca. The artifacts here, dating back to the Mycenaean period offer a glimpse into the island’s past. Marvel at the intricate pottery, sculptures, and other relics that tell the story of Ithaca’s rich cultural heritage.

Next, head to the legendary Cave of Nymphs, nestled amidst olive groves and rugged cliffs. According to Greek mythology, this mystical cave was once the home of the nymphs who enchanted the hero Odysseus during his epic journey home. Explore the cave’s hidden chambers and soak in the serene beauty that inspired ancient legends.

No visit to Ithaca would be complete without paying homage to the island’s most famous landmark, the Homeric School of Ithaca. According to tradition, this ancient site was where Odysseus’s son, Telemachus, was educated by his tutor, Mentor. Wander through the ruins of this historic site and imagine life in ancient Greece.

Scuba Diving and Snorkeling

Scuba diving, snorkeling, and sea kayaking are great options for water enthusiasts.

If you can, try to visit the Cave of the Nymph! According to myth, Odysseus had hidden there the gifts he had brought along from the land of the Phaeacians.

Beaches in Ithaca Greece

Ithaca Greece is blessed with some of the most stunning beaches in the Ionian Sea, each with its unique charm. From secluded coves with crystalline waters to sweeping stretches of golden sand, the island’s coastline is a paradise.

One of the most popular beaches is Filiatro, with its turquoise waters and lush green surroundings. Nearby, Sarakiniko Beach boasts dramatic cliffs and rock formations, ideal for snorkeling and exploring underwater caves.

For those seeking a quieter retreat, Agios Ioannis Beach offers peace and tranquility. Here you’ll find crystal-clear waters and breathtaking views of the surrounding hillsides.

But my absolute favorite is Skliri Beach. A beach I so vividly remember, and often dream about! Tucked away from the crowds, this secluded beach offers a peaceful retreat for those seeking solitude and tranquility.

Accessible by boat or a short hike along a scenic trail, Skliri Beach rewards visitors with its unspoiled beauty and pristine waters.

The beach itself is composed of smooth pebbles and coarse sand! It’s perfect for lounging in the sun or taking a refreshing dip in the azure sea.

Surrounded by towering cliffs and lush vegetation, Skliri Beach feels like a secret paradise waiting to be discovered.

Hike (or boat) to Gidaki Beach

Gidaki Beach, nestled on the stunning island of Ithaki, Greece, is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. What sets Gidaki apart is not just its pristine sands and crystalline waters but the journey to reach it.

You can get there by boat or hike and I chose the latter. The hike to Gidaki takes about 1 hour and is an adventure in itself! Winding through lush olive groves, fragrant pine forests, and rugged cliffs it offers breathtaking vistas of the Ionian Sea.

As you trek along the rugged coastal paths, the anticipation builds, until suddenly, Gidaki reveals itself in all its splendor. It really is a secluded paradise framed by dramatic cliffs and turquoise waters. Its remoteness lends it an untouched allure, attracting nature enthusiasts and solitude seekers alike.

Tia’s Tip: Get there early in the morning if you want the sun! After midday, the cliffs form a shadow on the beach! Gidaki Beach can easily be combined with Skliri Beach, as you literally pass by Skliri to get to Gidaki. I opted to get to skliri at about 4 pm and spent the whole afternoon there, until the glorious sunset!

Indulge in Gorgeous Food

After working up an appetite, indulge in a delicious meal at one of Ithaca’s charming tavernas.

Feast on freshly caught seafood, traditional Greek meze, and a glass of crisp white wine or ouzo.

Finish off with a mesmerizing Sunset

Before catching the ferry back to Kefalonia, take a moment to savor the breathtaking sunset. It doesn’t matter where you are, although there are a few scenic viewpoints.

Watch as the sky transforms into a palette of fiery hues, casting a golden glow over the Ionian Sea.

In the evening, its time to bid farewell to Ithaca Greece and return to Kefalonia. One thing is for certain; you’ll carry the memories and the timeless Greek Islands beauty forever.

Without further ado, keep reading for the best Cyprus brunch, in the picturesque villages and mountains of Cyprus.

Cyprus Brunch – Limassol Villages

Mpakaliko Tou Xapsi – Agros Village

Small but mighty! This cute stone-built tavern is perfect all year round, with a warm interior and a veranda with a few tables and village views outside! The menu is small and uncomplicated, with two breakfast options. 

The first is Pomilorotiana and includes an egg, tomatoes, onion, halloumi, and toast.  The second option, Boukoma, is perfect for two and it includes local fresh eggs, lountza, halloumi in commandaria, dried figs and honey, cheese, anari, bacon, cucumbers, tomatoes, jams, butter, and toast.

The tavern is open from 8 am on the weekends and is also a great option for lunch and dinner too.

After your meal, you should really consider exploring the village of Agros too – it’s beautiful!

Arkatena fotinis

The ‘arkateno’ bread in Omodos is incredible and widely popular!

At Arkatena Fotini, you can enjoy a sweet platter of arkatena with marmalade, Nutella, and dried nuts, accompanied by aromatic coffee.

Or choose the savory platter with fresh eggs, cheeses, cold meats and fresh jams! Besides the arkatena, the shop also offers homemade sweets and savory pies too.

Hovoli Coffee Shop – kyperounta

Located right in the center of Kyperounda village, Hovoli offers Sunday brunch, with local delicacies! Do try and sit at the balcony at the back that offers incredible views!

There is also great lemonade, and homemade sweets – the carrot cake is pretty addictive!

There is so much to do in Kyperounta, from adventure parks to the unbelievable Arsenios church and nature trails.

Brunch Nicosia Villages

Aristoteleio Boutique Hotel – Pedoulas Village

This is one of my favorite places to visit, and for good reason too! Aristotelio is a boutique hotel in the heart of Pedoulas – just a 5-minute drive from the village of Kalopanayiotis.

I enjoyed a humongous breakfast there, as well as Cyprus meze – and both experiences were fantastic. The restaurant itself is beautiful and aristocratic, but the food is traditional and cooked to perfection!

Omelets, meats, cheeses, jams, eggs, bacon, halloumi, and fresh bread – meant a very happy Tia with a very full stomach. 10/10!

Cyprus Brunch – Larnaca Villages

Christoudia winery – Kato Drys Village

A beautiful winery located in the even more picturesque village of Kato Drys! At Christoudia Winery, Brunch is a pretty serious affair.

Apart from the usual, cheeses, cold cuts, jams, bread, and eggs, there is a dynamite plate you have to try.

You will simply love the eggs in the sausage meat cooked in the wineries wine, with plenty of Cyprus finest spices and tomatoes!

Combine your brunch with gorgeous views of the vineyards, a wine tour, and a stroll around Kato Drys village!

Petros – Basket Weaving museum – Choirokitia Village

A beautiful oasis with plenty of animals, gardens, and an excellent brunch!

In its courtyard, the wood-fired oven brings out steamed bread and traditional delicacies, and in its kitchen, fresh anari and hot halloumi drive the visitors crazy.

His excellent brunch is completed with fresh produce such as eggs and vegetables from his yard and farm.

Stafilaris Coffee Shop – Kato Lefkara Village

A good and plentiful Cyprus breakfast, in a relaxed setting with shade, and room for kids to roam! It’s a great place to relax, whilst feeling like you are in a family member’s backyard!

Great friendly staff, homemade lemonades, and plenty of sweets make the experience even better.

Cyprus Brunch Paphos – Villages

Kika’s Gardens – Kallepia Village

The wonderful Mrs Kika turned her home in the village into a garden oasis that serves organic breakfast from the fresh produce it produces. 

Brunch is served from Thursday to Sunday from 9:30 am until 2 pm. Please be aware that eservations are essential!

The organic menu includes fresh eggs and bread, homegrown vegetables, as well as halloumi, and anari cheese.

Additionally, there are fresh sweet figs, homemade jams, and plenty of other seasonal items.

Vasilikon Winery – Kathikas Village

Situated in the north-western shores of Cyprus, at the Akamas Laona Region and the village of Kathikas. The winery was established in 1993 and is one of the first local wineries of the island.

At the winery, you can enjoy a traditional Cyprus Breakfast with views of the vineyards, or some cheese and wine instead!

The breakfast comes with sausages, eggs, bacon, halloumi, vegetables, olives, and bread!

Lastly, it’s the time to spend with family and friends and the time to reinvent yourself and set new goals.

Cyprus During Christmas

Christmas in Cyprus is a little bit on the….bland side.

As beautiful as Cyprus is, it’s pretty horrendous during Christmas!

It isn’t cold enough, but it’s not snowing, and at the same time, it isn’t sunny or hot enough to be anywhere near a beach.

You have a coat on, but also sunglasses, and it’s all so confusing!

The streets and cities’ Christmas Decorations leave A LOT to the imagination and the whole thing just feels like a lukewarm feasting holiday rather than Christmas.

But fear not!!!

We are in Europe after all, and only a short flight and small budget away from Winter Wonderland.

Let’s explore my top picks below.

1. Winter Wonderland – Prague

With the most vivid Christmas markets in Europe, nothing beats Christmas in Prague! So this deserves the 1st spot!

Prague has the most lively Christmas street parties equipped with concerts, choirs, beers, and even lamb cooking in the streets!

There are Countless events, Christmas shopping, and a general atmosphere that just screams ”tis the season to be jolly”.

Winter Wonderland Prague – what to do

• Choose from a number of ice rings to do some ice skating
• Make sure you see some of the sights of Prague – the snow makes them extra pretty at this time of the year!
• My favorites are Charles Bridge and st. Vinus Cathedral along with the Old Town Square.

What makes Prague even more special is that the Xmas markets are open from the 2nd of December up until the 6th of January.

Christmas markets in destinations like Germany close down early on Christmas Eve as Catholics tend to have their celebration on the 24th.

Prague is affordable, with good flights and plenty of accommodation options!

2. Winter Wonderland  – Budapest

Budapest is unique because a lot of effort goes into avoiding commercialism, and preserving the Hungarian authenticity of folk art and traditions.

There are lots of options for markets but the biggest and most popular are the markets on Vorosmarty Square and the Budapest Basilica Christmas Fair 

Luckily both are within walking distance of each other.

These markets turn their attention to festive showcasing the handicraft talents of Hungary!

Think of traditional products made with tender loving care, like lacework, knits, and glass homemade candles.

Also carved wood and glass, pottery and leatherwork, and many more.

Vorosmarty Christmas Market

It really looks and feels like an old nostalgic postcard.

Held as the No.1 richest and most spectacular market in Budapest, it attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors per year.

You should also note it is usually only open from the 9th of November to the 1st of January. Check the official website here for up-to-date information.

What can you expect to find at Vorosmarty Christmas market?

Well, bright colors, sounds, and lovely smells! Buzzing wooden market stalls and choirs singing. Great winter wonderland food, mulled wine, shopping, and all things merry.

Budapest Basilica Christmas Market

This Christmas market is in the center of the famous St Stevens Square and is only open from the 23rd of November to the 1st of Jan.

Walk over from the Vorosmarty market to see the special Christmas Laser Projection on the Basilica!

This year’s special show will be a 3D projection on the Basilica, that can be viewed from all corners of St Stephen’s Square with 3D glasses.

What is there to do in Vorosmarty and Budapest Vasilika Markets?

• handcraft stores for thoughtful handmade gifts
• An ice rink for some festive skating fun.
• Delicious Hungarian Cinnamon Pastries
• roasted chestnuts, Hungarian sausages
• Mulled Wine
• Free Christmas Concerts
• Light painting evening shows
• The enticing Buda Castle
• The colorful Fishermans Bastion
• St’ Stevens Basilica and Square
• Mathias Church.

3. Winter Wonderland  – London

In love with Winter Wonderland? Then London couldn’t be missing from this list.

After all, it was my hometown for 11 years! Christmas in London is magical – in more ways than one.

London is magical and definitely comes alive during Christmas time!

What to do in London that makes it Winter Wonderland worthy.

• Let’s start with the unmissable, magical fairy tale world of Harrods, and of course Harrods Christmas World. Arguably THE best Xmas displays in all of London! It really is your one-stop Christmas destination.
• Visit the enormous Winter Wonderland and its gorgeous Christmas market in the heart of Hyde Park as well as the Southbank Center Winter market.
• Explore the Xmas fun and wander in the markets of Leicester Square!
• Then make sure to walk through Piccadilly to Oxford Circus and shop till you drop with the breathtaking decorations as your backdrop.

4. Winter Wonderland -Berlin, Germany

You will be spoiled for choice when looking for Christmas Wonderland in Berlin.

With over 50 Christmas Markets to choose from I really couldn’t even begin to do them justice!

Berlin is such a cosmopolitan city that it is constantly buzzing with life, more so during Christmas.

In Berlin, there are winter sports to suit all tastes and abilities, Indulgent spas to warm and pamper yourself,  and sparkly and fabulous New Year’s Eve Parties.

What to do in Berlin During Christmas

•  Visit the Berlin Cathedral and Gendarmenmarkt Square.
• Explore the Brandenburg Gate and of course the Tv Tower for 360 panorama Views of the City.
• Go mad for shopping at KaDeWe Europe’s biggest department store
• Visit the Museum Island – not only is it one of the UNESCO world heritage sites, but it also houses the most exciting exhibition centers in Germany.

5. Basel, Switzerland

Nothing screams Christmas more than the snowy winter wonderland of Switzerland and the quaint little town of Basel.

Basel offers the best of both worlds, as it lies in the heart of Europe, and the center of the border triangle of Switzerland, France, and Germany.

Its 2 big Christmas markets are considered to be the prettiest and largest in Switzerland!

What you will find in Basel

•  an impressive array of options to make Xmas shopping an easy task
• beautifully decorated chalets, and cozy cafes to warm yourself up
• Fluffy thick snow, and wine by the fireplace
• Snow fights and  walks along the lit-up winding streets echoing sounds of Xmas carols
• Skiing or snowboarding the alps. Whether you are an experienced master of the snow or simply keen to learn how to snowboard there’s no place better to do it than on the Swiss Alps – and no place better than Bael which is the gateway to all Swiss Ski resorts.

6. Rovaniemi, Lapland – Finland

Did you know that the town of Rovaniemi received the status of the official Home town of Santa Claus in 2010?

Spending Xmas, New Year, or anytime in between in Rovaniemi, Lapland, is something that you will treasure forever.

An experience of a lifetime that may not come cheap, but will provide memories that both you and/or your children will most likely treasure forever.

The Magic of Christmas is so alive here, you can feel it in the air!!

The best things to see and do in Lapland

• Sleep in an igloo
• Stay in hotels entirely constructed by snow,
• Visit husky and reindeer farms and go on sled rides.
• Grab the opportunity to see the world-famous Northern Lights
• Book to visit Santa Claus (whose home is in a secret location). Santa Claus accepts visitors every day of the year, an attraction which brings in 500.000 annual visits to Lapland.
• Have a stroll through the magical Santa Claus Village and get your shopping donw
• Visit the post office where you can send personalized letters home with Arctic post stamps that cannot be found anywhere else.
• Take advantage of the heavy snow and have a go at cross country skiing, hiking, snowshoeing and tobogganing.
• Go ice-climbing and swim in a lake covered in ice.
